remember how your mother always told you that it is what’s inside that counts? well, after eating these cookies, I am quite certain that you will call your mother up and tell her that she was right.

as i began my baking process this morning i realized something– if i were to end up settling down with a guy who is allergic to peanut butter, we are going to need separate kitchens. i just don’t think i could get by without eating nor baking with it. this morning i prepared the insides for peanut butter chocolate cookies i will be making later, and got started on the fluffernutter cupcakes. then, around 11, i headed off for something that has had me an odd shade of excited.

this past week has been a little insane, so my plans to post during the week just didn’t happen. then, i cancelled the photo/video shoot that i had planned for yesterday– my dad is in the hospital so i didn’t know if there would be any emergencies, and since my mom was leaving today, i decided it was the right thing to do to cancel the shoot and spend some time with her. the ironic thing is that while sitting on my grandmother’s couch with her she explained to me that she was going through withdrawal from me not having any new blog posts for a week. i will tellya, i had some fun things planned for the shoot, so i sure hope i get to do it soon! i will admit though that spending some time with mom and going for a relaxing shea butter swedish massage sure was a nice way to spend a saturday!

for the past two days i have done almost nothing. no, i am not kidding, i really didn’t do anything of significance. with the exception of a trip to the grocery store and talking online, i did not leave the house or interact with any humans. i indulged in movie and tv show marathons, and since my house was clean and christmas decorations taken down from my mother coming over on friday (ah, mother-daughter cleaning bonding)… i took the opportunity to be lazy.
around 5 or 6pm, however, i realized that it was in fact sunday and i had not yet baked. i baked so much over the holidays and everyone is pretending to be on a diet, so i actually considered not baking. but then i remembered that i signed up my step father for my ‘cookie of the month’ club, which in reality did not exist until i was trying to think of what to add to his christmas gift. the man has just about everything and rather than buy another gift that he could easily buy himself i wanted to make him something. since i am not 5 a popsicle picture frame was out of the question, so i went with cookies. he loves cookies. SO- every month this year i will be mailing him a cookie of the month, the first batch going out tomorrow.
this month: oatmeal dark chocolate raisin cookies. for the recipe, it is the same as the oatmeal white chocolate cranberry, but swapping out the dried fruits and chocolates. while i’m at it, here is the new packaging logo that my friend jeremy crafted for me (my initials are SS):
