this lil baker grew up with an interesting relationship with food. her mother was an aerobics instructing health nut who fed her cracklin’ oat bran instead of frosted flakes, and salad sandwiches instead of, well, whatever it is that 7 year olds were  supposed to eat for lunch. however, homemade baked goods fresh from her mother’s oven were always a-ok. in fact, every time her mother overheard a conversation that a friend might be coming over, brownies or cookies were in the oven before the phone was even placed back on the receiver. if a friend were to stay over for breakfast, you could rest assured that there would be muffins, belgian waffles, her famous fruit salad (people still request it to this day, as it is “the best”), and anything else you could possibly imagine. her mother still bakes frequently, and if you do her a favor you can expect a loaf of banana bread, a batch of cookies, or whatever strikes her fancy as a thank you.

this explains a lot, eh? she always enjoyed being mommy’s little helper, and baking seems to be one of the only things that her, her sister, and her mother all enjoy doing, and are all good at! it started small… helping out making cookies, then forming an assembly line for holiday treats, then branching out on her own and exploring her own passion for food. like her mother, she bakes as thank yous, she bakes for company, she bakes for work, she bakes when she will be a guest, but most of the time she just bakes for the love of it!

every sunday (and often additional days) she dons her apron and tries out a new recipe, or tinkers with an old standby. most often, she is quite pleased with the results, but every so often she, like all of us, is a bit hard on herself and has a handful of constructive criticism….or, rather, things to keep in mind for next time.

countless things have been baked before this blog was created, but unfortunately were not photographed…as they are re-baked they will be posted, same goes for those with the poor cell phone images.
