last weekend, instead of baking, i went up to connecticut for the wedding of my best friend from high school. we were the girls that were virtually inseparable, and to some people i think we were just one person. we have stayed in touch but not been as close since after college due mainly to geography and work schedules, but when we get together it is always just like old times.

half of her bridal party was from growing up and the other half from college, and i have to admit i was a little nervous about the dynamics since ive only met the college friends a few times and the rest of the jersey girls have only met the college friends once…last month at the shower. fortunately, everyone got along great and it was like we were sisters for the day. i felt terrible that one of the girls’ dress zipper broke about two hours before the wedding, but through teamwork we managed to get the zipper apart, sew her into the dress, and get it to last all through the night! i must say i was quite proud of our accomplishment!

however… this is nothing compared to the bride! the day before the wedding she called me to check in, see what time my train would be getting in, etc and i felt so bad that she had no voice. she said she thought it was some sort of sinus infection gone awry or something to that effect. she participated in everything, looked beautiful, and danced the night away. well, it turns out that she had PNEUMONIA! yes, she had pneumonia at her wedding, and managed to be up and about without missing a beat! i don’t know if it was the excitement of her wedding, or if she is just that strong, but wow!
