i absolutely love breakfast foods… pancakes, waffles, french toast, eggs, veggie sausage, veggie bacon, potatoes, fruit, oatmeal… and just about everything else. while i most likely make breakfast for dinner more often than other people, it is not often enough that i actually make it *for* other people. well, this week, the stars aligned. twice.

i don’t generally think of myself as shallow, and i know not to judge a book by its cover, but when these cookies came out of the oven i was disappointed. in fact, i considered throwing them out. see, i found this recipe for mississippi tea cakes on allrecipes and they looked great in the picture, so i was expected mine to look like them. as i was reminded a week or so though, (when my mom was upset that her reese’s cookies didn’t look like mine, but happy that they tasted great) sometimes things taste better than they look.
so you have all heard me complain about the buttermilk predicament… this week i tracked down an oatmeal muffin recipe to get the job done. i took the advice of some of the comments and added vanilla and cinnamon. these got good, but not rave, reviews in the office.

as you may have read below, i have been having some technical difficulties, and tonight one more added itself into the mix…my CF card is reading as full even though it is empty. not sure if it is the card, my camera, my computer, or what….but even if it did work, i am still having trouble with my photo software which at this point i just need to find the disc for and reinstall. the good news is that i am able to upload photos to the site now…so this awful cell phone picture is a small victory!
